HOW the Universe works is a fascinating question — Science has been remarkably successful at explaining it, and will keep making progress for the foreseeable future. But for me, a far deeper question is WHY the Universe exists at all. This is the fundamental mystery Religions have wrestled with throughout human history. Regardless of whether their answers hold up, asking "why" may well be the most vital exercise for any conscious mind. Working in AI every day, this question hits close to home. We often dismiss these systems as mere "fake intelligence," but I keep coming back to a single benchmark: Will AI ever genuinely wonder why anything exists, or will it simply grow more sophisticated at answering how —the very utility we build it for? True intelligence may not lie in mastering the mechanisms, but in possessing the capacity to pause and wonder why there is a mechanism to solve in the first place.
